Horizon
Some years ago the GSV began the 'Horizon' project, within which primary school pupils can take part in educational projects in secondary schools. By means of this project, a bridge is built between primary and secondary education. This is particularly interesting for pupils who are high achievers and can benefit from an extra challenge. In this project the GSV works together with six secondary schools (VO). Other primary schools also take part. The group 8 and Year 6 teachers decide which pupils would benefit from inclusion in this project. These pupils are then able to follow secondary school lessons for half a day each week in cycles of four weeks. The secondary schools provide the teachers and offer challenging lesson material. In order to take part in this project the pupil needs to be highly motivated and the teacher must consider him or her an appropriate candidate. Participation is voluntary, but not without obligation.
